Need to know information for choosing A levels part 1

At my school we have a thing called a careers interviews which is where you talk to a lady about all the different options that you have post 16. I found this to be very interesting and helpful as it made some things a lot clearer. I thought I'd share some information about it in order to help any of you guys out there. 1. Most Universities want you have a facilitating subject. I'm sure most of you have heard this word being thrown around and this has got you into a panic because you think that you will have to take classes that you don't enjoy. Well this is completely not the case. The list of facilitating subjects are as follows: English literature  History  Modern Languages – e.g. French, German, Spanish etc…  Classical languages – e.g. Latin, Ancient Greek Maths & Further Maths  Physics Biology Geography Chemistry Russell group universities suggest that you take at least one if not more of these subjects because if you don't then there will ...

In a french speaking exam you need to know how to speak french

Hey guys I'm super sorry that my posts haven't been that consistent I've just been a little swamped by trying to start my revision for my mocks. On Monday I had my French speaking exam (the one I didn't prepare for) so I wanted to tell you how it went. Basically that day I was already quite sad that I was back at school but to make it worse I had an exam that I hadn't prepared for, that I couldn't just wing. I was so nervous about it that I was shaking while trying to get in some last minute revision. One of my friends was also doing her exam a little while after mine so we were both panicking and rambling about how nervous we were. I tried to cram in as much revision as I could until form time ended and it was time to go to maths so I was forced to put my notes away. Maths was soooooooo boring and I didn't understand what Sir was talking about so in a way I was happy to get out of there. My exam started at 9:30 but I left at 9:20 because the pl...

So I'm screwed

Hey guys sorry I've been gone for a while I hope you didn't miss me too much. This week was the half term and I did absolutely nothing so there wouldn't be anything to talk about, not that that's a valid excuse. I go back to school on Monday and I'm getting back on track so be expecting almost daily posts from me about how amazingly exciting and wonderful year 11 is. Well it is for those of you who loves tests, pressure, homework and LOTS of controlled assessments. Anyway during this week I managed to laze around, watch TV and watch at least 6 movies but somehow I didn't manage to do any revision or pick up a book at all. It's so bad, especially when my mocks are in little over a month and to add to that I have my French speaking on Monday, which happens to be the first day back at school at 9:30. This is terrible news, literally life altering because I haven't completely revised for it and I know I'm not good enough at French to make up the ...

Just put me on the spot

At my youth club we have an event once a year in the evening on a Sunday. This year we put on a mini talent show where a few people showcased their talents. Because we had to prepare for this I had to get there for 2:30 even though it started at 5 and the other people on my team neglected to inform me that I was going to do the presenting until about an hour and a half before I was meant to present. I tried to get out of it but "Harriet" the main leader of my youth said that she picked me specifically and that there was no way I was going to get out of it. Being me I was kind of okay with it but I was just a bit stunned as to why they wanted me to do it when I don't normally do the presenting. The night was hilarious and most of my friends came which was good, after the event ended we started doing the shmoney dance outside in the park which definitely got us some weird looks from people passing by . Also my friend from my Tantrums and Talent shows post  (the one t...

My friend is sleeping beauty

Yesterday I went to my youth club and like normal it was really good, I had a lot of fun and things happened as usual that I'm going to tell you about. As you know I'm a leader so this means that I have my own small group. A small group is basically what it says on the tin it is a small group of girls in my case that I talk to as part of the program. Basically after the talk questions are put up on the screen which I have to ask my girls. I have the year 8 girls but some of my year 9 friends have wormed their way into my group because and I quote their "group is dead" , I didn't really have a problem with this but sometimes these girls can be a bit hard to manage. They are all super loud and love to get off topic so most of the time we don't end up answering the questions but at least we have good banter. Anyway in my small group my friend (let's call her candy) was really tired that night and she had already fallen asleep once during the program. What...

The run of torture

My school has some sick tradition of making us do a cross country run every year. This wouldn't be so bad and I can't really complain as some of my friends have to do that every week at their school. But at my school they make us run through farmers fields. Fields, where their are crops growing and horses right next to us. I don't know who's stupid idea this was because the mud is so thick and slippery that it's hard to walk let alone run in the fields. It's particularly disgusting as you get mud all over your legs and clothes and let me tell you dried mud is not a good look. Today I did the last run that I will ever have to do at my school and I hated every second of it but I'm glad that I did it. The thing was I didn't even know for sure if I had to do it today but nevertheless I was totally bricking it in French this morning before the race. Me and almost everyone else there except the cross country runners were dreading it almost as much as I was...

Why is science so uggh

I hate science. I hate it. Now I'm not the type of person to throw hates around everywhere but science really gets on my nerves. I just don't like it but because I'm in top set all my teachers are pressuring me into getting A* in the exam. Don't be fooled by the fact I'm in top set as I'm clearly the dumbest one in the class. At the moment most people are working at an A grade in my class while I'm working on a C. This just does wonders for my confidence you know. I don't know what it is about science that I just don't get considering I'm doing well in every other subject but in science I'm passing at least. You're probably wondering how I ended up in top set if I'm that bad but that is the question I've been asking myself since I first found out. The truth is that while I'm bad at science a lot of people are much much worse which is kinda bad considering I go to a really good school. I'm really trying hard to rev...
